A Season for Everything
While I look at January as a fresh new
start, it’s been a little difficult in some ways to let go of the Christmas
season. The house feels a bit empty without Christmas décor. The excitement of
the season through Christmas music, decorating cookies, viewing Christmas
lights around town, and attending family events has come and gone. My
4-year-old especially has been having a hard time accepting that Christmas is
over, as she pulls out Christmas books at the library this past week and
mentions how sad she is that her little Christmas tree in her room is packed
away. Seasons come and go, sometimes a little too quickly.
I am reminded of one of my favourite
passages in Ecclesiastes 3:
“There is a time for everything,
“There is a time for everything,
And a season for every activity under the
heavens."
It’s important to embrace each of nature’s
four seasons as God has created them, but it is equally as important, if not
more, to take hold of the season of life that we are currently in. For some it
may be a season of struggle, trials, mourning and uncertainty and for others it
may be a season of rejoicing, of growth, and productivity.
For me, it’s a busy season with little ones
where I often can’t seem to catch a break or can’t get everything done, where I
long for rest and relaxation. But it is also a season of laughter and of pure joy, of watching them as they learn and discover new things, of unending hugs and kisses. It's a season that will come and go so
quickly (as I’m often told). So amidst the challenging and tiring days, I’m
learning to cherish these moments and be grateful for these years. This is a
good season, a season of beautiful blessings. In each season of life, whether
good or bad, we need to ask God to reveal to us what He wants us to learn and
remember that He is with us always.
